This afternoon the Coast Guard team at Howth were tasked to investigate reports of a seal trapped on rocks at Bull Wall in Dollymount. A unit attended and members assisted with directing the seal back safely to the sea.

Howth Coast Guard were tasked today to a casualty who had fallen on Burrow Beach in Sutton. The Team quickly located the casualty, an EMT from the team administered first aid while the team prepared the casualty for transfer to a waiting ambulance. Incident 70/14 Just before 8am this morning (Friday 21stNovember) the Irish Coast Guard received a request from An Garda Siochana to assist with a missing person search in the Howth area. Irish Coast Guard units from Helicopter Rescue 116 and Howth Coast Guard station were tasked along with Howth Allweather and inshore Lifeboats.
Shortly after 9am the Coast Guard helicopter located and recovered a body. Rest in Peace. Incident 69/14 While out on exercise today at Ireland's Eye, Howth Coast Guard boat was tasked to a report of a person in a lifejacket swimming offshore near the Martello tower in Portmarnock. The boat proceeded to the area and found a swimmer with a brightly coloured buoy attached to them. The swimmer was using it as a visual aid so they could be seen while swimming. No assistance required. Considered call with good intent. Howth boat returned to exercise. Incident 68/14 This afternoon Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue 116, Howth Coast Guard, Howth Lifeboat and Dublin Fire Brigade were tasked to a person in the water at Blackbanks.
As the Coast Guard Volunteers arrived the person was being assisted out of the water by a member of the public, Gardai and DFB ambulance personnel. Incident 67/14 At first light today just after low water a large scale search commenced for a missing person in Howth. On Friday Gardai requested the assistance of the Coast Guard with a missing person search in Howth.
Howth Coast Guard, Howth Lifeboat and Coast Guard helicopter were tasked. With no developments the search recommenced at first light on Saturday. The above teams were joined by Civil Defence personnel including search dog units. Coast Guard boat crews used Sonar equipment and worked with Garda Water Unit to assist search teams. The search is ongoing. |
