Irish Coast Guard - Howth Unit

Suicide Prevention

Our members are trained to ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) level on a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first-aid. ASIST trains participants to reduce the immediate risk of a suicide and increase the support for a person at risk.

The team has worked closely with the community to identify the more common locations where suicides have taken place on the coast, and measures have been put in place signage or barriers in these locations.

If you, or somebody you know needs to speak to somebody, you can talk to the Samaritans 1850 60 90 90 available free phone 24/7.
