Irish Coast Guard - Howth Unit
Typically casualties requiring our assistance for injures sustained in a coastal environment are unable to be reached by an ambulance care provider.

While the team are trained to provide assistance, a higher level medical care is often provided on-scene by Coast Guard Paramedics from the Irish Coast Guard Helicopters.

A number of our own team members are trained to Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level and Paramedic and we have eight Emergency First Responders on the team. We also hold the capability to lower-in an Advanced Paramedic or Doctor over a cliff edge to assist a casualty.
