At first light today just after low water a large scale search commenced for a missing person in Howth.
Irish Coast Guard personnel from Howth, Dun Laoghaire and Skerries stations were joined by members of Dublin Civil Defence. Fingal County Council emergency management section supplied an Incident Command truck and operational staff to support logistics.
At 8am a joint CG and CD search team located a body in the water while doing a shore search in the harbour. The body was recovered by a Coast Guard boat crew and brought to the Howth Marina.
This was one of the largest inter agency searches ever in Howth involving Irish Coast Guard units across Dublin, Coast Guard Helcopter Rescue 116, Howth RNLI lifeboats, Civil Defence units including search dogs from Dublin and Laois, local Gardai and the Garda water unit and Fingal County Council. Thanks to all resources for their co-operation over the last three days.
A sad outcome and our condolences go to the family of the deceased. Rest in Peace.
