The Howth Coast Guard unit was tasked to Malahide Broadmeadows Estuary last night at 21.00 to a report of a windsurfer in difficulty. A member of the public on a train had seen what they thought was a windsurfer in the water needing assistance. Howth ILB was also tasked and the Howth Coast Guard boat which was training in Dublin bay was also asked to assist.
Sea Scouts on the water on Broadmeadows contacted the Coast Guard when they heard on the marine VHF of the concern for a windsurfer and reported that they could not see anybody in need of assistance. This was confirmed with the Coast Guard unit on scene and all resources were stood down. Considered call with good intent.
