A full scale response was launched, co-ordinated by the Coast Guard operations centre. Irish Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue 116, Coast Guard Rescue station at Howth, Howth RNLI ILB and ALB lifeboats, Dublin Fire Brigade along with Gardai responded. The search continued until darkness and was then called off to resume at first light.
Starting at 5.30am this morning the search resumed along the coastline and surrounding beaches. The Garda water unit also joined the search; when the sea swell dropped the Garda divers were able to dive and they located the fisherman. His body was brought back to Howth Harbour with the assistance of Howth lifeboat. Our condolences to the man’s family. May he Rest in Peace.
