Last weekend the unit was involved in the “Give us a Hand” campaign which
involves distribution of free water proof identity wristbands for children.
The wristband allows parents/ guardians to write their phone number on it and place on a childs hand. If the child gets lost the phone number can be
contacted and everyone reunited quickly, minimising the need for a large
scale search.
20,000 wristbands were distributed by the unit to Libraries and Life Guard stations from the North inner city to Swords.
The following Libraries are now stocking the wristbands – Charlemont (Five lamps), Marino, Raheny, Donaghmeade, Baldoyle, Malahide and Swords. Dublin City Council and Fingal Council Lifeguard stations in the area will also have the bands in stock along with Howth Coast Guard station.
