Our RIB, Grainne, is principally for patrol, transport, lifejacket compliance monitoring and assistance to the shore unit. Though specifically not a first response craft for rescue purposes, the boat will respond and has the capability to provide assistance as any other craft is obliged to do at sea under the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS)
For the coming year Grainne is being fitted with new twin 90 Yamaha engines and having some minor serving work done. She is being fitted with a new marine VHF DSC radio and with an AIS system and should be ready for the water in early 2010
