Greystones Festival

The Howth Coast Guard boat was in action today at the Greystones Festival. As part of the proceedings Greystones CG unit hosted a search and rescue display. Taking part were Wicklow lifeboat, Wicklow Civil Defence boat, Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter 116 and of course Howth CG boat.

Howth provided safety boat cover during the rescue senarios.

Lifejacket Compliance(PFDs)

Howth CG boat Grainne was out on Sunday last monitoring Lifejacket Compliance. The crew reported back disappointedly that the level of compliance was dropping back on previous levels. Round Ireland Swim Expedition

Sunday Boat Patrol

The Howth Coast Guard boat was out on lifejacket compliance monitoring both days of the weekend with slightly worse compliance on Sunday than Saturday. The boat crew met up with Skerries RNLI Atlantic 75 off Portrane and the Irish Coast Guard Helicopter ‘MES’ off the Bailey Lighthouse.

Saturday Boat Patrol

The Howth Coast Guard voluntary unit carried out Life Jacket compliance monitoring in the Dublin Bay area yesterday. Good results were found across the board with all personnel on sailing vessels under 7m wearing jackets, although a minority of small pleasure craft were not.

Howth CG boat ‘Grainne‘ was out on Lifejacket compliance monitoring patrol today. Weather conditions were good and Grainne visited Dun Laoghaire harbour and Dublin Bay. Clontarf Yacht Club Blessing of the Boats

Howth CG boat launched today at 12.00 to attend the blessing of the boats at Clontarf Yacht Club. The Unit’s 4×4 and van were in attendance on shore.
