A&E Placement
Members of the team have just completed a week of placements in the Beaumont Hospital Accident and Emergency Ward. The program sees Coast Guard members spend a night on the ward in the Triage Section every six months. Volunteers get to see how the medics do their initial patient assessment, something very relevant to incidents that the Coast Guard encounter.
One Volunteer commented "12 hours in A&E with the Coast Guard improving first aid skills. A busy night; heart attacks in progress, De-fib, angioplasty, coma, self harm, neurology, breaks and strains".
A very big thanks to the amazing staff that make up Beaumont Hospital A&E, their enthusiasm to help improve our patient handling skills while still giving a dedicated caring service to patients is very commendable
