While out on regular compliance and safety patrol today the Howth Coast Guard boat ‘Grainne‘ gave assistance to some water users. At 13.53 Grainne and her crew recovered a total of eleven Kayakers and their craft from two groups back to Howth Harbour from Ireland’s Eye after they considered the conditions unsuitable for their return across the sound.
At 15.18 the crew recovered a board paddler back to Claremont beach who was offshore attempting to return but was unable to make headway due to the conditions.

All those assisted to shore wore the appropriate PFDs for the conditions they were in and required no further help.
Incidents 45/09 and 46/09

Folks
I would like to thank the guys for assisting us in getting some of our paddlers back from the beach on Islands Eye and shadowing the rest of the group to shore.
The wind had blown up stronger than the forecast we had seen the day before (I use windguru.com for wind perdictions).
Thanks a lot for all the help. The lads have all said they enjoyed the ride on the rib.
