Yesterday while finishing their patrol for the day the crew of the Howth Coast Guard boat were tasked by Dublin MRCC to recover a body in the water in Dublin Bay. It had been discovered by a passing yacht which reported it’s position and stood by.

Howth Coast Guard volunteers were in Skerries over the weekend taking part in a joint exercise which involved volunteers from the Howth, Skerries, Clogherhead and Drogheda Coast Guard units. Over two months the boat crews of Howth Coast Guard are completing Sea Survival courses in the National Maritime College in Cork to enhance their already extensive training. The volunteers are being trained by Naval Service personnel in all aspects of surviving in the water after an incident.
On Sunday last while out on patrol involving lifejacket compliance monitoring the Howth Coast Guard boat ‘Grainne’ was called for assistance in three incidents.
