Howth CG were tasked tonight at 19.56 to assist in the search for an EPIRB(Emergency position indicating radio beacon) which was activated in the Howth harbour area. Howth Lifeboat were already on scene and had located the signal to the West pier area with it’s radio direction finding equipment.

After a search of the area behind the buildings on the pier volunteers from Howth Coast Guard found the beacon floating in the water just off the rocks. The EPIRB was recovered and deactivated. It appeared to be from a vessel in dry dock at the pier. Howth stood down at 2200.
