This week over two visits on Monday and Friday the volunteers in Howth visited the Huntstown Community centre in Blanchardstown and gave a water safety talk to the kids and leaders in the summer project. Fifteen kids at each visit watched a dvd on the Irish Coast Guard’s helicopter service and were shown how to wear lifejackets and how to keep safe while on or near the water. They also were shown some of the cliff rescue equipment that the volunteers use in Howth. Then the budding new Coast Guards competed in rescue line throwing training. Thanks to the centre for looking after us and we know now that the kids will pass on the safety message to their friends and families.

Before the end of the Summer they will come out to Howth to visit the station and see the equipment.
