The Civil Defence held a flood evacuation exercise on Broadmeadows estuary yesterday. The swiftwater rescue, medical, boat and fire crews were practicing rescuing casualties from a flooded housing estate and recovering them to a rest and welfare centre set up at the nearby Portmarnock leisure centre. Howth Coast Guard volunteers were along to assist in the recovery and also to observe the overall Civil Defence operation.
