At 1930 in what is becoming a regular occurrence Howth CG received a call to go to the assistance of three people who had got their car stuck in sand on Dollymount beach. Two volunteers went to the scene which was on mud banks on the inside of the island and recovered the car quickly before it was covered by the incoming tide.
Now that the weather has improved and people are visiting the beaches Howth Coast Guard would like to remind car drivers that unless life is in danger the Coast Guard may not respond to recover a stranded vehicle. It remains the responsibility of the car owner to ensure the safety of their vehicle.
