Al McQuillan a volunteer with the Howth Coast Guard Unit is travelling to South Africa in November with the Niall Mellon Township Trust. This will be the largest ever exodus of Irish people to a charity event overseas and will be the fifth Township Challenge the Niall Mellon Township Trust has organised. He will be participating for one week with 1350 others in building homes for over 200 families in Freedom Park, Cape Town. The homes will have 2 bedrooms running water, electricity and sanitation and will be a major change from the one room shack that many live in. Al is raising €4000 to fund his trip, half of which goes directly to the charity. More updates to follow.
