Howth CG were tasked at 1546 today with a report that there were two people in a boat off the wooden bridge at the Bull wall calling for help. Dun Laoghaire ILB and the Lifeguards stationed on Dollymount beach were also alerted. When Howth volunteers reached the scene at 1552 the boat was being assisted by the Clontarf Yacht Club rescue launch. The two on board were then taken ashore into the care of the Clontarf Gardai as it transpired that a boat had been removed from the Scout den without permission.

Both occupants of the boat were not wearing lifejackets and were being swept out to sea by the outgoing tide.

Howth were stood down at 1600 after confirming all were well.
