Howth Coast Guard unit were tasked today at 13.09 to investigate a report from a member of the public of two unattended surfboards in the Baldoyle estuary. MRCC Dublin were concerned that the owners may need assistance. Two volunteers were quickly on the scene and found that the two boards were tied together and moored to a buoy in the water. The tide was low and they surmised that this situation was not something for concern as somebody had taken their time to secure the two boards and if they were in distress they would have been seen quickly. Reported to MRCC Dublin and stood down at 13.40.
Incident 19/07

I past these at low tide 6hrs later (about 1hr ago) on route back from Aran Islands. I was very suspicious too. One has now been flipped over the other one on its side and looks like an up-turned canoe. The fact it was in about 1ft of water, I reckoned ok!
