Howth Coast Guard were tasked at 06.47 this morning to Dollymount Beach where they had a report of a car stuck in the sand overnight with two occupants. It was above the high tide line and not in any danger. The couple’s car had been stuck since 02.00 and at 06.45 they rang the Coast Guard looking for assistance. Although not a regular job for the CG, Howth were asked to respond and removed the car quickly at 07.10.
Howth CG would like to remind people who go down to the beach to stick to known paths, as parts of Dollymount strand are very soft and unless life is at risk the emergency services may not respond to recover a stranded car.
Incident 16/07

I bet Gannons and the AA were miffed that the couple rang you guys ! Mind you a free rescue is a free rescue…….. I bet gannons would charge more.
