Howth Coast Guard Unit were out on the cliffs today at Whitewaterbrook as part of their regular training. A full stretcher recovery was put into action today as they were given a realistic scenario for a rescue. A person had fallen and injured themselves while out walking on the cliff path down to the beach and needed to be brought to safety quickly. Two climbers performed the task with support from the cliff-top team.

As part of the exercise today the team were also receiving a cliff rescue assessment from their fulltime Operations and Training Officer from Coast Guard Headquaters. We are glad to report that the team were passed fit for cliff rescue with an excellent exercise carried out today.
