
Howth Coast Guard were tasked today at 11.55 to check the safety of a trawler which had run aground at Portmarnock strand and was now quite far up on the beach. A volunteer who was near the beach attended the scene and checked the vessel. It posed no pollution treat and the crew were safe. It was planned to tow the boat off the beach at high tide at 19.20 tonight.
Update : 20.00 After an unsuccessful attempt to recover the vessel tonight the owners will try again tomorrow.
