Howth Coast Guard were yesterday involved in a large scale search for a missing Donaghmede woman. We received a request from the Gardai who had reason to believe she may be in the Howth area. We started at 07.00 and deployed our boat and had three large teams totalling forty volunteers including Civil Defence members searching the cliffs and coastal paths. We requested the assistance of the Coast Guard helicopter to cover the more inaccessable parts of the cliffs and to cover Ireland’s Eye. ‘Grainne‘ our boat covered all the lower cliff areas from Howth Harbour around to Sutton. We conducted a large intensive search of the given area and reported nothing found. We stood down at 13.00.
