At 1641hrs today Howth CG received a call from MRCC Dublin to investigate the sighting of a red flare off the coast at Sutton. A team member, who was in the area, scanned from Sutton Cross to the Martello tower but could not find any evidence of a craft in distress, nor had any walkers on that route noticed a flare. MRCC were informed and were happy that it was a false alarm. The unit was stood down at 1702 hrs.
