Howth CG were tasked by MRCC Dublin at 23.55 hrs last night after a report of a youth in the sea in Clontarf between the slipway and Castle Ave. The Deputy Area Officer requested a full team callout and the team assembled at the station. Meanwhile one of our members was at the scene and reported that youth had been located and was being assisted ashore by members of the fire brigade and Gardai. The team was therefore stood down at 00.05

Am searching for details of sailor Henry Trace, lost at sea, supposedly off the Captain Parry, in or about 1885. He lived in North Strand, Dublin and was a merchant seaman previously employed by the U.K. Coast Guard off the coast of Dublin stationed at “Vanguard”. He left the service in 1878 and joined the merchant navy out of Dublin. The family have been unable to find any details of his demise. If you could help with any information we would be very grateful.

    Lois,

The first stop for you is http://www.coastguardsofyesteryear.org/index.html

Tony Daly who runs this website is the guy to talk to in relation to anybody who served in HM Coast Guard in Ireland. He will put you in the right direction.
