Howth CG were tasked this evening at 18.16 to a report of a missing kitesurfer. He had been training with a group on the Burrow beach in Sutton and had not been seen for 45 minutes. A friend called the Coast Guard on 999/112 with his concerns and Howth CG were tasked. Howth CG asked for Howth Lifeboat assistance to search the offshore area of the beaches.

Within minutes of launching Howth ILB discovered the kitesurfer about 300mts off Claremont beach minus his kite and over his depth. He was taken on board and removed to hospital for a check-up. He had spent about three hours in the water altogether. He does not appear to have any injuries. Howth were stood down at 18.58.

Conditions on scene were good with N/Nw wind force 3/4. Sea state good.
