Howth Coast Guard unit were tasked late last night at 22.35 to the assistance of Howth Gardai who had a report of a cry for help heard near Drumleck point on the south side of Howth Hill. The Gardai were happy the report was genuine as the person who gave the report was still on scene. The full team responded along with Coast Guard Rescue helicopter 116. A full search was conducted from the Baily lighthouse to an area west of Drumleck point including the beaches below. Rescue 116 conducted an infra-red search looking for signs of body heat along the full length of the cliffs in the area. After searching for two hours the Coast Guard were happy that the area had been extensively covered. Nobody in need of assistance was found.

The team were stood down at 00.40 and returned to the station. Considered call with good intent.

Weather conditions on scene were good.
