Call to Investigate Man in Water

Howth CG were tasked today at 15.07 to investigate a man in the water near the wooden bridge in Dollymount. A volunteer who was near responded quickly and upon investigation it turned out to be a member of Trinity College taking samples for pollution monitoring. Considered call with good intent. Howth were stood down at 15.20.

Greystones Festival

The Howth Coast Guard boat was in action today at the Greystones Festival. As part of the proceedings Greystones CG unit hosted a search and rescue display. Taking part were Wicklow lifeboat, Wicklow Civil Defence boat, Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter 116 and of course Howth CG boat.

Howth provided safety boat cover during the rescue senarios.

Code of Practice for Recreational Craft

The book containing the Code of Practice for the Safe Operation of Recreational Craft is now available. It has been produced in joint cooperation by The Maritime Safety Directorate and The Irish Coast Guard.
