Howth Coast Guard wish to advise that particularly high astronomical tides are predicted to occur at all Irish Coastal locations during the months of September, October and November 2006.
These tides are close to the highest tides which can be predicted to occur under average meteorological conditions and any combination of astronomical conditions. They occur generally at a frequency of once in 18 years.
Local Authorities and emergency services have been advised to be particularly alert during these periods as there may be a risk of coastal flooding in low lying areas. The risk will be very significantly increased if these high tides coincide with storms or surges.
The first of the predicted high tides in the North Dublin area will occur on:
Highest - 9/09/2006 00:43
Highest - 10/09/2006 01:24
2nd Highest - 8/09/2006 00:03
2nd Highest - 11/09/2006 02:09
Further high tides occur in October & November. To receive further advisories please contact ‘The Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources (DCMNR)’
