Text from the Irish Independent story as follows:

Youth (16) injured in cliff plunge drama

A TEENAGE boy suffered head, hand and ankle injuries after he fell down a cliff and was then struck by stones he dislodged.

The accident occurred on cliffs at the Bailey lighthouse in Howth last night when the 16-year-old Canadian fell about 30ft onto the beach. He was then hit by falling stones that had come free as he fell.

Dublin Coastguard co-ordinated the rescue operation involving the Howth inshore lifeboat which was exercising at the time, and a coastguard unit.

The injured teenager’s parents and friends managed to carry him up a pathway to the top of the cliff.

From there an ambulance took him to Beaumont Hospital.

He was said to have been bleeding badly from a head injury and was drifting in and out of consciousness. It is understood the teenager was climbing when he fell.
