This evening MRCC requested a number of the team members to attend to 16 year old male with head injuries near the Bailey Lighthouse. Arriving on-scene simultaneously with 2 members of the RNLI lifeboat-crew, the teams provided first-aid while an ambulance travelled to the location.
The teenager, on holiday with his family, had been climbing on rocks at the bottom of Whitewater Brook when a large piece dislodged and fell from above causing head injuries. Reacting quickly, his family aided the teenager by calling the Coast Guard, reduced bleeding by applying pressure to wounds and supported him in walking to the cliff-top.
The remaining family members were transported back to their vehicles at the summit and a quick recovery in hospital is expected for the casualty.
