The Howth Coast Guard boat was out on lifejacket compliance monitoring both days of the weekend with slightly worse compliance on Sunday than Saturday. The boat crew met up with Skerries RNLI Atlantic 75 off Portrane and the Irish Coast Guard Helicopter ‘MES’ off the Bailey Lighthouse.

The Howth crew are now gearing up for the Howth Festival in 2 weeks time when the station-house will be open for tours with vehicles, boats and cliff rescue equipment on display.

Howth Coast Guard would like to remind masters of vessels of their lifejacket obligations under the Merchant Shipping (pleasure craft) (lifejackets and operation) (safety) Regulations, 2004. S.I. No 259 of 2004. Lifejackets must be worn by all on board vessels up to 7m in length.
