Howth CG boat ‘Grainne‘ was out on Lifejacket compliance monitoring patrol today. Weather conditions were good and Grainne visited Dun Laoghaire harbour and Dublin Bay. Lifejackets were worn on all vessels which required them except one. The skipper of the non compliant vessel was informed of the regulations and his obligations under the Merchant Shipping(Pleasure craft)2004 Statutory Instrument.
One canoeist with an unsuitable buoyancy aid was also spoken to and asked to review his PFD equipment.
Grainne conducted some casualty recovery drills near Howth Harbour and was back on station at 16.00hrs.
