The Northside People newspaper has recently covered a number of stories from the Howth unit. In this weeks paper the training exercise in Donabate last weekend has been featured.
DAY-TRIPPERS to the Portrane area last Sunday week (May 7) could have been forgiven for thinking they were caught up in the middle of a major disaster. Onlookers watched in amazement as guard units from Howth and Skerries, along with members of the Civil Defence, conducted a major search and rescue operation for a plane that had crash-landed in the area.
However, they need not have panicked. They were witnessing a dramatic, true to life simulation of a plane crash.
