The Howth Coast Guard Unit were paged on request of the Howth Gardai this afternoon to investigate a suspect object rolled in a blue sheet on the side of the cliff above Lion’s Head. The package had been reported by two walkers earlier in the day.
The unit’s 4×4 quad carried the rescue equipment down the muddy track before the cliff-top team set up two climbing lines for a recovery. Two climbers were lowered 20m over the edge to the height of the package to confirm there was nothing suspicious, check the cliff face for any other related debris and ascended back to the top.
Conditions: Heavy rain with low clouds.
