The boat crew have been out this busy bank holiday weekend in the Howth, Malahide and Dublin Bay area. With a large on-the-water boat show over at Malahide Marina there were plenty of boats afloat.

While there are still cases where the odd adult isn’t wearing the required floatation device, nearly 100% of children are and general life jacket compliance has improved greatly over the last 2 years.

Today the boat launched from 1300hrs - 1600hrs. On return to the slipway the crew were approached by a member of the public in contact by mobile phone with a small fishing boat adrift off the stack of Ireland’s Eye that had lost power. The Howth unit alerted the Marine Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) who tasked the Howth Lifeboat D-Class to recover the vessel.
Conditions: Calm, good viability but overcast. Rain followed after 1630hrs.
