Whitewater Brook

Last night saw the team send 3 new cliff climbers over the edge for the first time. In the wind, rain and impending darkness at the Bailey Lighthouse the 3 new climbers from the team took their plunge down a somewhat easy grassy slope at the top of a gully. After approximately 2hrs of setup & climbing the trainees had learnt about harnessing up, descending with a Petzl I’D & related cliff-top checks before descent.

Three simultaneous descent lines gave the cliff-top team a chance to test the new ‘dogs’ (prussik devices to hold the safety lines) that feature a softer rope and velcro tabs at the ends.

Conditions: Strong gusts & rain showers.
