At 1700hrs, Howth CG Unit were tasked by the Dublin Marine Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) to investigate a report, by a member of public, of a vessel in distress off Howth Head. A search along with Howth Lifeboat and ILB was completed, accompanied by Rescue 116 in air support. No vessel or sign of distress was visible, all units were stood down by MRCC at 1825hrs.

It was thought later to be a hoax call.

Conditions: Southerly Wind 14knts, air temperature 6.9 degC.
